Wedding Policies
Scheduling
Couples wishing to be married in the church should consult with the priest a minimum of three months before the wedding. Non-members, inactive members and those who have been divorced need to allow at least six months. No arrangements can be made before meeting with the priest. Weddings are not scheduled during Advent or Lent.
Counseling
Pre-marital counseling with a priest is required of all couples before the wedding is officially scheduled. In case of previous marriage, proof of divorce is required (usually a copy of the divorce decree). Those who have been divorced must obtain the bishop's approval, which can take three months or more. In cases of multiple divorces, professional counseling may be required.
Planning and Rehearsal
Weddings follow the service found in the Book of Common Prayer. Details are planned with the priest during counseling sessions; all plans are completed before the rehearsal. A one-hour rehearsal is held, usually the evening before the wedding. All participants and family members should be on time and in attendance.
Service
The service follows the Book of Common Prayer. Normally, friends or family read lessons from the Old and New Testaments (see list of readings). The service may include Holy Eucharist, which is open to all baptized Christians.
Music
Music must appropriate to worship, and is usually provided by the church organist or someone designated by the organist. Particular times in the service are designated for hymns or other music. The couple should consult with the organist on all music; see the wedding music guidelines. Outside musicians should conform to these guidelines as well. Secular music is not appropriate for the wedding service, and the priest has final approval on all music.
Participants
At least two witnesses are required, usually the best man and maid/matron of honor. Other friends and family may participate in the procession, as well as read the lesson. Children under the age of 12 are not permitted in the procession.
Marriage License and Blood Test
A blood test is required for a license (and may take up to four business days to return). Within thirty-five days of the blood test, a license must be obtained at Town Clerk?s Office in Town Hall in Cheshire. The license is good for thirty days.

Organist Fee: $150.
Church Cleaning Fee: None for active, pledging members. All others, $100.
Priest Fee: None for active, pledging members. All others, $250.
All fees are due at the rehearsal. Make separate checks payable to the organist and priest.
